Giant snakes

And here I got four Otherworld giant snakes. Unfortunately the picture is not really doing them justice, they look better in real life. These will be used for the venom cult in Dragon's Delve, and it is generally useful to have snakes.

I am now working on a Pathfinder red dragon, using the core rulesbook cover as the color scheme.

Giant Centipedes

I am on a roll! Here are four giant centipedes from Otherworld miniatures. Easy paintjob, but hey I'll take another four painted miniatures any day.

Next up: 12 Reaper Bones rats! More easy!

Giant ticks

And here we go! Some giant ticks, ewww. Easy to paint, but good to use for all kinds of vermin. I am kind of in the mood for vermin now, so I am painting my four Otherworld miniatures centipedes next.

Otherworld Miniatures is having a summersale

While Reaper miniatures might be the place to go for the cheap minatures as of late, I have always really liked the work of Otherworld Miniatures. They are a bit on the pricey side, which means I don't get all the stuff I'd want, but good news! They have a summer sale going from 20-50% off on a lot of items.

I am thinking of picking up a bunch of spiders and other wilderness creatures. They all have the older editions looks, but some of these models are really good. Detail on them is also great. To boot they are located in the UK, so no VAT for me. :)

Here are some models they did that I have been painting lately:

The venom cult
Barbed devils
Bone devil
Rust monsters
Violet funghi
Gargoyles
Troll
Shadows

The venomcult

So I have been working on this here venomcult from Otherworld Miniatures most of the past few weeks. Now one massive update with all twelve models!

I am going to add some nice snakes and the likes to the cult as well.

Enough babble, pictures!

Next up some Mansions of Madness painting! I got a shoggoth with my name on it.

Cultist progress

Making progress with the cult. Footwear all done, so is skin. Robes need highlighting, cowls need washing and highlighting. After that is done they all need their model specific things (daggers, skulls, etc.)

If anyone knows of any good additional cultist (or monsters related to cultists) models, I need to expand this cultist!

New photograph background

I have (yet again) upgraded my photo shoot facilities. This time I added a textured cloth in the hopes of being able to focus the pictures better on the actual models. This is the results so far! Enjoying myself here.

Finishing Up: Grick

A long time ago I converted a Otherworld Miniatures Giant Leech to a Grick (see concept art at bottom of the post). Now this was a long time ago and it broke about half a year ago when I seriously fumbled it.

So for 'finishing up' I grabbed all the pieces, reconstructed some of the (admittedly crappy) paintjob and added eeww-ey ooze to the base with crystal gel. I didn't fully repaint the mini, because that is not the point of 'finishing up'. If I keep updating paintjobs I will never get to minis that don't even have a paintjob yet.

Barbed devils

Here are two barbed devils I finished off recently. They are less saturated green in real life, but somehow I was unable to fix it on the pictures. I shall endeavor to do better next time!

For now: Barbed devils!

Devils galore

I have finally been working on my devils from Otherworld Miniatures. Their stuff is high quality and leaves nothing to be desired. I recommend their mini's to every DM out there.

I have owned quite a few of theirs and I have also had their entire devil and demon range in my posession for quite a while. The plan was to mount all the devils on lava bases and all the demons on some sort of abyssal ground bases.

Then they were 'forgotten' and recently I finally figured let's finish them. So I got started on my bone devil first. This is the result.

I have also been working on my two barbed devils. Here is a WIP shot of one of them.

The lava bases are from Dark Arts miniatures. Good casts, good shipping, good company.

Other paintjobs from 2012

It seems 2012 is already almost over. This is a shame, because I have been painting like crazy. I aim to keep it up so that the shelf is a lot emptier come Reaper kickstarter dead drop.

I have spotlighted some of my recent paintjobs since I started this blog, but of course I painted a lot more this year. Here are the best of them (and the ones with the best pictures).

(Swampy) Zombies from Reaper Miniatures

Rust monsters from Otherworld Miniatures

I did paint a lot more then just this, mainly in the Warhammer department, but I do not have proper pictures of most of them. I only got my lightbox near the end of the year and anything not in the lightbox is no longer something I am happy with

I learned a lot from painting all these miniatures this year. One thing I know now is that I could spend days on a miniature or hours. I general I will not spend days on a miniature, but hours. I just don't have the time to paint up to a 'museum' quality spec. I also want to use the miniatures, so there is another reason. I will thus tend to paint up to a level of quality I am comfortable with doing within at max 8 or so hours.

I also learned about water effects (see the huge spider), still love drybrushing (see the spirits) and actually blended some things (see the rust monsters).

This was a good year, let's have another.

*Waits patiently for Reaper-day to arrive*
