I recently ran a Pathfinder scenario for a group of new players who wanted to learn about the game. I was running Master of the Fallen Fortress. The thing required two medium sized spiders. So I dug through my Bones box and selected two simple ones. Painted half of them up and then I ran out of time.
I showed up to the game, ran them through it. The spiders had their moment and everyone agreed 'those are spiders'. I then finished them up at home and started searching the Reaper site for the code to post them.
It was then, and only then, that I realized these were not spiders, they are beetles! Doh! I painted them in a scheme that is about the same as the Pathfinder Bestiary spider... *shrug* Ah well.

Scrutiny: Invisible characters
I got this nifty little gift at christmas. My girlfriend surprised me with Gamemastery (a line of products from Paizo) invisible character 'miniatures'. What is this you ask? Only character silhouettes cut out of plexiglass supplied with round plexiglass bases. You can use these to represent characters that are currently invisible. Very neat indeed!
Lets take a look.
Lets take a look.
What you get
The set comes with ten varied fantasy types. It also comes with ten bases (even though I got eleven, I am always so lucky!). It is actually quite hard to take pictures of these things.
The cleric with and without base
The 'miniatures' cannot really stand on the bases without 'help' from some superglue. It is not a snug fit, which is one of the downsides. That said, I glued all of mine and the results are very cool. So far I have used the invisible miniatures three times during sessions where players went invisible, though they can also be used for invisible bad guys that only a few players can see. Very cool stuff indeed! Thanks girlfriend for getting me these things.

The temple tile
It was quite a bit ago that my girlfriend designed a 4x4 tile for the modular dungeon. Recently I have found the will to paint it. No fancy details, so I could easily do so while being sick.
So I got inspired to go for a 'sun' and 'temple' feel. This is the result, including a little simple freehand. One action shot, one seperate.

Vanja, fire giant queen
After three months of working on four fire giants I have finally finished the first! This is Vanja, Fire Giant Queen. Sculpted by Werner Klocke, produced by Reaper miniatures in their Bones line. There is also a metal version, but I instead have the, much cheaper, Bones version.
Why did it take so long? Besides being sick, she was a test model for a lot of new techniques. The main reason is my first huge non-metallic metal attempt. I am pleased enough with the result, though it could have been better. You have to start somewhere.
I am especially pleased with her hair and skin. Her eyes also came out quite well, oh and the cloak (totally stole the cloak idea from someone).
The thing is, I have three more giants in different phases of being done, and I am totally done with giants for now! Back to something else, painting two spiders for a upcoming one off Pathfinder session it is.

MoM: Crawlers
Due to some serious sickness issues, still not a lot of painting. I got a fire giant queen from Reaper Miniatures coming up once I put myself to painting a bit. I did finish these two crawlers for Mansions of Madness.

Piles of rubbish
Well then, I've been quite sick. It has taken me out of the running for two weeks and I am still on pills to keep me 'sane'. Bad stuff.
So what does one do when in bad stuff? Paint.
I worked up these two piles of debris. They fill 2x2 squares of normal HA tiles. The idea is that I can whip these out to quickly put down rubbish, create a warehouse, a smuggler's cave, etc. It has boxes, wheels, skill, boxes, lockers, sacks of stuff, etc. I am going to add more version like a 1x2 and a 1x1 version. I am very pleased with the result.
And a picture of them shoved together a bit, so it's easier to see how it blends into one big pile of rubbish.
Next up: We have figured out how to make a proper diagonal wall, size wise, but unfortunately that isn't done yet. I am molding a simple normal piece wall first. I need a lot of those as well afterall. We plan to make molds for corner walls, round walls and diagonal walls in the direct future.

MoM: Monterey Jack
And thus we live in December. I am still working on Mansions of Madness, at least I should be. I have been very busy painting four, really big and detailed, fire giant Bones miniatures from Reaper. This directly translates into not having a lot of time for Mansions of Madness.
The people at the tale of the boardgame painter over at warseer managed to motivate me to at least slap out a quick investigator. So I chose the simplest one I still had unpainted and this is the result of less then an hour of work. Not half bad for a boardgame.
I am thinking of painting some crawling ones in December. Game on!
